Luxury lighting in Bangalore has a local maker. Teeshaa designs sculptural lighting in Spanish alabaster at its Bangalore studio and makes every piece in its own facilities in India: ring chandeliers, pendants and clusters, wall lights and table lamps. Pieces for Bangalore homes, villas and projects can be seen lit at the workshop by appointment. Several are ready to order online; larger formats are made to order on enquiry. Everything ships across India and worldwide.

why alabaster for a Bangalore home.

Bangalore homes come in two broad kinds: apartments with 2.7 to 3.0 m ceilings and a false ceiling that takes 20 to 30 cm of that, and villas on the city's edges with double-height living rooms and stairwells. Alabaster works at both scales because the light comes through the stone rather than off a surface. A 20 cm sphere reads as a glowing object at close range; a 120 cm ring fills a 6 m volume without glare.

The stone itself is a translucent gypsum from Aragon in Spain. When lit, its clouding, veins and mineral density become part of the light, and no two blocks are alike. Each stone is reviewed unlit and lit, and multi-part pieces are matched for colour, clouding and transmission, so a cluster reads as a family rather than a set.

Warm light suits the city's evenings. Most pieces are 2700K as standard, which reads like evening light, with 2000K, 2300K or 3000K on several. Dimmed low, alabaster looks like a candle inside stone, and the balcony-to-living-room light that Bangalore homes enjoy becomes something to keep rather than switch off.

Being made here has a practical side. The finished ceiling height, the fan position and the drop can be settled with the people who cut the rod, not through a distributor. Alabaster is soft and dislikes water, so the stone stays indoors or under a deep veranda roof, which Bangalore's mild weather makes easy to honour.

choosing luxury lighting in Bangalore.

  • Apartments: measure the finished ceiling after the false ceiling. In a 2.7 m room with a 25 cm cove you have about 2.45 m. Hang pendants only over tables, islands and bedsides; use wall lights elsewhere.
  • Dining tables: pendant bottom 75 to 90 cm above the top, width one half to two thirds of the table.
  • Villas: add room length and width in feet for a comfortable chandelier width in inches, then give the piece height. Keep 2.1 m (7 ft) clear in walkways and under stairs.
  • Fans share most Bangalore ceilings. Offset the fixture over the furniture group rather than centring both.
  • Colour temperature: 2700K through the home, 2000K to 2300K in bedrooms, 3000K where colour accuracy matters. Ask for dimming.
  • Finish: most pieces offer Champagne Gold, Brass Gold, Black and White; the Halo rings add Matte White, Brushed Brass, Antique Brass and Matte Black. Finishes vary by piece.

the pieces.

The Halo Crown Chandelier is a continuous alabaster ring with a 4 cm tube: Small at 60 cm is ready to order, Medium 80 cm, Large 100 cm and XL 120 cm are made to order. The total height reaches 183 cm (72 in) on stainless wire, so one design serves an apartment dining room and a villa's double-height living room.

The Aura Chandelier is about 100 cm wide and 91 cm high (39.5 by 36 in), radial alabaster shades on a circular metal frame, at 2000K, 2300K or 3000K. It suits a dining room or living area with a 3 m ceiling where a ring would feel too open.

The Essenzo Pendant Cluster P5 hangs five domed diffusers across 112 cm (44 in) on E27 lamps at 2700K, matched as one family. It is the piece for a long dining table or a kitchen island in a larger flat.

The Aura Wall Mount is a glowing alabaster disc for corridors, bedsides and living room walls, at 150 to 170 cm from the floor, in Brushed Brass, Antique Brass, Champagne Gold, Polished Nickel or Brushed Nickel. It solves the low-ceiling problem by using the wall.

The Totem Table Lamp stacks alabaster forms 49 cm tall on a 22 cm footprint (19.3 by 8.5 in), with an 8 W LED at 2000K, 2300K or 3000K. On a bedside or a console it puts the stone within arm's reach, where its clouding is clearest.

specifying and ordering.

Pieces marked ready to order ship in their listed sizes and finishes. Larger sizes and large formats are enquiry pieces; we confirm a drawing, finish and lead time, typically 3 to 4 weeks. Integrated LED at 2700K is standard on most pieces, with 2000K, 2300K or 3000K on several; the Essenzo clusters and Dome sconce use E27 lamps. Dimming is available on request, with drivers remote or in the canopy. Suspension is on a stainless rod cut to size, or stainless wire with transparent cable on the Halo rings, so the drop is set to your room.

frequently asked questions.

Does Teeshaa have a showroom in Bangalore?

Teeshaa has a design studio and workshop in Bangalore rather than a retail showroom. Visits are by appointment, and you can see pieces lit, compare stone samples and discuss sizes and finishes for your room. Book through the contact page, by phone or by email. There is no showroom in any other city.

Can I see a piece lit before I order?

Yes, at the Bangalore workshop by appointment. Because every block of alabaster differs, seeing stone lit is the surest way to understand what you will receive. For active projects, material samples can also be requested through the Trade Programme so a designer can judge the stone against the room's finishes.

Do you deliver outside Bangalore?

Yes. Pieces are made in Teeshaa's own facilities in India and delivered across the country and worldwide. Suspension rods and wires are cut to the ceiling height you give us, so a pendant arrives ready to hang at the right drop wherever it is going. Lead time for made-to-order pieces is typically 3 to 4 weeks.

What ceiling height do I need for an alabaster pendant?

Over a dining table, any finished ceiling of 2.4 m or more works, because the pendant bottom sits 75 to 90 cm above the table rather than at head height. In walkways keep 2.1 m (7 ft) clear beneath a fixture. For low rooms, use wall lights and table lamps for ambient light and keep pendants over furniture.

Can you make a piece for a double-height living room in a villa?

Yes. The Halo Crown, Infinia and Vanta pieces are made to order in large formats, with total heights up to 183 cm on the Halo rings. For a volume that needs something drawn to it, Bespoke develops a piece from the architecture, the material and the use, with drawings agreed before making begins.
