Alabaster lighting in India, designed in Bangalore and made in Teeshaa's own facilities, in Spanish alabaster quarried in Aragon. The range covers chandeliers, pendants, wall lights and table lamps, from a single hand-carved sphere to a 120 cm ring. Smaller pieces and sizes are ready to order online; larger sizes and large formats are made to order on enquiry. Every piece ships worldwide, typically 3 to 4 weeks after the order is confirmed.
why alabaster for the home.
Alabaster is a stone that holds light. Switched off, it is a pale, cool object with a soft surface. Switched on, light scatters inside the gypsum and leaves from the whole surface at once, so the clouding, the veins and the denser mineral passages become part of the light. There is no visible lamp and no hot spot.
No two blocks are the same. Some read soft and cloudy, some carry grey veins, some hold warm amber inclusions. Teeshaa reviews each block unlit and lit, and matches the sections of multi-part pieces for colour, clouding and transmission, so a ring or a cluster reads as one object without pretending the stone is uniform. The material page explains how this is done.
The light itself is warm and low in glare, which suits the rooms where people sit, eat and rest. At 2700K it reads like evening light. Dimmed, alabaster looks like a candle inside stone, which is why it works as ambient light in a living room and as accent light beside a bed or along a corridor.
choosing alabaster lighting.
Start with the role of the light. Chandeliers and pendants give ambient light to a room or a table. Wall lights give accent light and wash a wall. Table lamps put the stone at close range, where its texture is most visible. Alabaster is not a task light; pair it with discreet downlights where you need to read or cook.
- Chandeliers. Add room length and width in feet for a comfortable diameter in inches. Over a dining table, keep the piece to one half to two thirds of the table width. Teeshaa's rings run from 60 cm to 120 cm (24 to 47 in).
- Pendants. Hang the bottom 75 to 90 cm (30 to 35 in) above a dining table or kitchen island. Drops are set per room on a stainless rod cut to size, up to about 178 cm on the Linea Pendant.
- Wall lights. Centre sconces 150 to 170 cm from the floor in living rooms and corridors, 100 to 120 cm at a bedside.
- Table lamps. Match the lamp to the surface. A 49 cm lamp suits a console or a generous bedside; smaller forms suit a desk or a narrow table.
- Light and finish. Most pieces are integrated LED at 2700K; several offer 2000K, 2300K or 3000K. Dimming is available on request. Metal finishes vary by piece, with Champagne Gold, Brass Gold, Black and White on most.
Indian apartment ceilings commonly sit at 2.7 to 3.0 m, and a false-ceiling cove often takes 20 to 30 cm of that. Measure the finished ceiling, not the slab, before you choose a drop.
the pieces.
The Halo Crown Chandelier is a continuous alabaster ring with a 4 cm tube, in 60, 80, 100 and 120 cm diameters, hung on stainless wire with transparent cable. The 60 cm Small is ready to order; the larger rings are made to order. It is the piece to choose for a dining table or a living room where one quiet form should carry the ceiling.
The Aura Chandelier sets radial alabaster discs on a circular metal frame, about 100 cm wide and 91 cm high, with a choice of 2000K, 2300K or 3000K. It suits dining rooms and living areas that want more presence than a ring without the weight of a traditional chandelier.
The Alabaster Linea Pendant is a slender column, 30 cm tall and 6 cm wide, cut from a single block. Above a kitchen island, in a row of three, or singly beside a bed, it reads as a lit line of stone.
The Aura Wall Mount is a glowing disc for corridors, stairs and bedsides, in Brushed Brass, Antique Brass, Champagne Gold, Polished Nickel and Brushed Nickel. For the stone at arm's length, the Totem Table Lamp, 49 cm tall with an 8 W LED, can be dimmed until the clouding comes forward.
specifying and ordering.
Pieces marked ready to order can be bought online. Larger sizes and large formats are enquiry-only and made to order; a single product can mix both, so the Halo Crown Small is ready to order while Medium, Large and XL are on enquiry. Specify the metal finish, the colour temperature and whether you want dimming; drivers can sit in the canopy or remotely, and the drop is cut to your ceiling height.
Lead time is typically 3 to 4 weeks, and pieces ship worldwide from India. Architects, interior designers and FF&E teams can join the trade programme for project pricing, technical drawings, material samples and lead times. For a piece developed from a specific room or building, the bespoke studio starts from the architecture, the stone and the use. Workshop visits in Bangalore can be booked by appointment. Day-to-day upkeep is a soft dry cloth and nothing else.
frequently asked questions.
Is alabaster lighting suitable for Indian homes?
Yes. Alabaster suits living rooms, dining rooms, bedrooms, corridors and entrances, and Teeshaa's pieces are designed in Bangalore and made in India. Keep the stone away from bath and shower splash zones and off open balconies, and wipe it with a soft dry cloth. In a well-ventilated interior it needs no special climate.
Can I buy alabaster lighting online, or is it all made to order?
Both. Smaller pieces and sizes, such as the Halo Crown Small at 60 cm, the Linea Pendant and the table lamps, are ready to order online. Larger sizes and large formats are made to order and marked price on request. Enquire through the product page or the contact page and Teeshaa will confirm the size, finish and lead time before anything is made.
What colour temperature should I choose for alabaster?
2700K is the standard on most Teeshaa pieces and reads like warm evening light. Several pieces also offer 2000K or 2300K, which is candle-like and suits bedrooms, bars and dining, or 3000K, which is a touch cleaner. Cooler white light flattens the warmth of the stone, so stay at 3000K or below, and ask for dimming.
How long does an alabaster light take to arrive?
Lead time stated on product pages is typically 3 to 4 weeks, for both ready-to-order and made-to-order pieces, because each one is finished and matched by hand. Pieces ship worldwide from Teeshaa's facilities in India. Bespoke commissions follow their own schedule, agreed at the start of the project.
Can I see the stone before I order?
Material samples can be requested for active residential, hospitality and commercial projects through the trade programme, and workshop visits in Bangalore can be booked by appointment. Because every block differs, a sample shows the character of the stone rather than the exact piece you will receive, and multi-part pieces are matched at the time of making.
To understand the material before you choose a piece, read what alabaster is and why it glows. Then go to chandeliers, pendants, wall lights and table lamps.
