Made-to-Order vs Ready-to-Order Lighting

what ready to order, made to order and price on request mean, and how to tell which applies to the light you want.

  • Spanish alabaster, selected and matched
  • Designed in Bangalore, made in India
  • Finishes and drop set to the room
  • Typically 3 to 4 weeks, shipped worldwide

Ready-to-order lighting can be bought online straight from a product page, with its lead time stated there. Made-to-order lighting is made for your order after you enquire, with price and configuration quoted by the studio, and is typically 3 to 4 weeks. Teeshaa uses both, and made-to-order pieces are not returnable.

key facts.

  • Some smaller pieces and sizes are ready to order online; larger formats and some sizes are made to order on enquiry.
  • Made-to-order pieces are typically 3 to 4 weeks, and product pages state the lead time for each piece.
  • "Price on request" means the studio quotes the price after an enquiry; no price is shown on the page.
  • A single product can mix both modes, so the size you select decides which one applies.
  • Made-to-order, custom-made and specially commissioned pieces are not eligible for returns, exchanges or refunds.
  • Every Teeshaa light carries the same one-year warranty against manufacturing defects, whichever route you take.

what does ready to order mean?

Ready to order means you can choose the size and finish on the product page and buy online. The page states the lead time, so you know what to expect before you pay.

At Teeshaa this applies to some smaller pieces and sizes, such as pendants, table lamps and wall lights in the Essenzo, Linea, Totem and Aura series. Orders are processed after payment confirmation, and the shipping policy notes that delivery timelines are indicative. Ready to order does not mean that the stone is generic: the alabaster is still natural, and clouding and veining still differ from piece to piece.

what does made to order mean?

Made to order means the piece is made for your order after you enquire, rather than bought straight from a page. Teeshaa describes the typical lead time as 3 to 4 weeks.

The shipping policy adds that made-to-order products may need extra processing time before dispatch, so treat 3 to 4 weeks as typical rather than fixed, and ask the studio for the timeline on your piece. Larger formats are handled this way, because size, form and finish change how a piece is made. Our guide on how an alabaster light is made shows the steps behind the lead time.

what does price on request mean?

Price on request means the price is not shown on the product page. You send an enquiry, and the studio quotes the price, lead time and configuration for your project.

A quote is needed because the cost of a larger or more complex piece depends on its size, form, finish and configuration. Helpful details to send are room size, ceiling height, the finish you prefer and where the light will hang. Teeshaa does not show prices for enquiry-only pieces on their product pages. If your project is for a client, the trade programme lets approved members see trade pricing on product pages when signed in.

can one product be both ready to order and made to order?

Yes. A single product can mix both modes, and the Halo Crown is the clearest example. Its 60 cm Small ring is ready to order, while the larger rings are on enquiry.

On the Halo Crown Chandelier page, the smaller size can be bought online. If you want an 80, 100 or 120 cm ring, you enquire instead. Other pieces are enquiry-only across every size, such as the Aura Chandelier and the Halo Nile Chandelier S1. The rule is simple: select the size you want and read what the page says for that choice. For rings from 60 to 120 cm, the ring chandelier size guide helps you decide.

how do returns differ between the two?

For a ready-to-order piece, returns are accepted only if it arrives damaged or has a manufacturing defect, reported within 48 hours of delivery. For a made-to-order piece, there are no returns, exchanges or refunds, because it is made for you.

The 48-hour window for reporting damage or a defect applies to both, with clear photographs or videos. The warranty is the same: one year against manufacturing defects, covering the whole light. Read the warranty and returns page for the exact terms, and measure twice before you commit to a made-to-order size.

how should I choose between them?

Choose ready to order if the size and finish you want are offered online and you value speed and clarity. Choose made to order if you need a larger format, a particular size, or a piece shaped to a specific room.

If your idea does not match any listed size, the studio can discuss a project-specific adaptation or a bespoke commission, which is a separate conversation from a standard order. If you are unsure which route applies, ask before you decide.

how teeshaa fits.

Teeshaa designs from Bangalore and makes its lights in its own facilities in India, so both routes lead to the same alabaster, metalwork and engineering. Start from the Halo collection to see ring chandeliers in both modes, or browse the alabaster ring chandelier page. Once you have chosen, how ordering works walks through the steps, and the alabaster lighting hub gathers every form in one place.
