Hotel lighting in alabaster gives a property something a glass or fabric scheme cannot: a material that glows rather than shines, in a signature piece over the lobby and in a sconce repeated along every corridor. Teeshaa designs in Bangalore and makes in its own facilities in India, with a Trade Programme for FF&E teams, Bespoke for signature compositions and Design Labs for volume manufacturing. Standard pieces are ready to order; large formats are made to order by enquiry.

why alabaster for hotel lighting.

Guests judge a hotel by warmth in the first minute, and alabaster is warm by nature. The source sits inside the stone, so a lobby composition glows evenly from every angle with no bright point, and a corridor sconce lights the wall without glare at eye level.

No two pieces are identical, which is the point in a property that wants to feel made rather than fitted out. Clouding and veining differ from room to room. Every block is reviewed unlit and lit, and multi-part pieces are matched for colour, clouding and transmission before they ship.

It holds up to being looked at closely. A guest standing at a bar or beside a bed is within arm's reach of the piece, and lit stone rewards that distance in a way a diffuser does not.

The constraints are practical and known. Alabaster is a soft stone that wants a dry cloth and a line in the housekeeping manual. It stays out of wet zones and off exposed terraces. Signature pieces are made to order, so they go on the programme early.

choosing alabaster for each zone.

  • Lobby and arrival: one long or nested suspension on the axis of the entrance or the seating, 2700K, at least 2.1 m (7 ft) clear in walkways, with the access method for cleaning decided at design stage.
  • Bar: pendants over the counter and sconces at the banquette, 2000 to 2300K, dimmed late.
  • Restaurant: pendants per table, 75 to 90 cm (30 to 35 in) above the top, away from the open kitchen.
  • Corridors: a repeatable sconce centred 150 to 170 cm (59 to 67 in) from the floor, spaced 3 to 4 m, E27 or integrated LED.
  • Guest rooms: bedside sconces centred 100 to 120 cm from the floor, dimmable; a table lamp at the desk or console in 2300K for the evening scene.
  • Specification: finish, colour temperature, dimming system, driver location, drop from finished floor, quantities by zone and attic stock. Suspension is cut to size, so give dimensions, not fixture lengths.

the pieces.

The Halo Nile Chandelier S1 is a long alabaster composition for a lobby bar, a reception desk or a run of lounge seating, with length and drop agreed to the plan. S2 and S3 are related compositions. All are specified by enquiry.

The Halo Infinia Chandelier nests rings in a 4 ft format for a tall, centred arrival, in Matte White, Brushed Brass, Antique Brass, Champagne Gold or Matte Black. For a suite or small lounge, the Lunar Series Pendant P5 hangs five hand-carved spheres at different heights.

The Essenzo Dome Wall Sconce is the repeatable corridor and bedside piece: 27 cm high, 12 cm wide, 20 cm projection, satin brass, one E27 lamp up to 25 W at 2700K, hardwired and ready to order. The Alabaster Linea Wall Mount is the slender vertical alternative, each column from a single block. For desks and consoles, the Totem Table Lamp, 49 cm tall on 8 W LED in 2000K, 2300K or 3000K, completes the room.

specifying and ordering.

Most sconces, table lamps and standard pendants are ready to order with finishes chosen per piece; finishes vary by piece. Signature compositions, the Halo Nile formats, the Halo Infinia and the Lunar clusters are made to order by enquiry. Light is 2700K on most pieces with 2000K, 2300K and 3000K where offered, dimming on request against your control system, drivers in-canopy or remote, and the drop cut to size from your finished floor levels. Lead time is typically 3 to 4 weeks, and pieces ship worldwide from India.

The Trade Programme provides project pricing, technical drawings, material samples for active projects and confirmed lead times to architects, interior designers and FF&E teams. A signature piece developed from the architecture is a Bespoke commission. A lighting brand or operator that wants its own designs manufactured in alabaster at volume works with Teeshaa Design Labs. Workshop visits in Bangalore can be arranged by appointment.

frequently asked questions.

Can alabaster lighting be specified across many hotel rooms?

Yes. Repeatable pieces such as the Essenzo Dome Wall Sconce and Linea Wall Mount are standard formats. Because the stone is natural, approve a lit sample as the control and agree a range around it rather than identical pieces; every block is reviewed unlit and lit before it is cut, and attic stock should be ordered with the main batch.

What does the Trade Programme provide for a hotel project?

Project pricing, technical drawings, material samples for active projects and confirmed lead times, for architects, interior designers and FF&E teams. Send the zones, quantities and programme dates and the trade team returns drawings and samples, with the signature pieces scheduled alongside the standard ones.

How is alabaster lighting maintained by housekeeping?

A soft dry cloth for dust and a lightly damp cloth for marks, on a monthly schedule, with no sprays, multi-surface cleaners or abrasive pads. Pieces on E27 lamps are relamped as normal; integrated LED pieces need their drivers placed where engineering can reach them. Put the routine in the housekeeping manual.

What is the lead time for alabaster hotel lighting?

Typically 3 to 4 weeks for standard pieces. Signature compositions and large formats are made to order and scheduled against the project programme, so bring them to the trade team early. Dates are confirmed once quantities are known, and pieces ship worldwide from Teeshaa's facilities in India.

Can Teeshaa make a custom piece for a lobby?

Yes. Signature pieces for lobbies, bars and restaurants are developed through Bespoke from the architecture, the material and the use, with drawings and samples before manufacture. For a brand's own designs produced in alabaster at volume, Teeshaa Design Labs offers OEM and contract manufacturing.
